IDAS is a supported, secure, mature, modern, continuously updated, and commercial-off-the shelf software that allows any KSC civil servant and contractor at any network computer to learn and use a set of integrated tools to perform technical risk analyses over the life cycle of a complex system.

IDAS focuses on safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability—the primary dimensions of technical risk and mission assurance. Thus, the analytical products of IDAS focus on predicting and analyzing system operating outcomes and not system technical characteristics such as size, weight, function, and strength.
